A888 Series Control Systems

Alison Control's A888 Series Control Systems, renowned for fire detection and control in a wide variety of industrial environments, are custom-designed to the exact needs of the application and the requirements at the specific site.

The A888 Series Control System is unique because it can monitor the complete spectrum of detection devices and trigger appropriate response actions. Control effectiveness can be designed to range from a relatively simple, single zone analog system to a highly complex, multi-zone microprocessor-controlled system.

Unlike "off-the-shelf" fire detection and control systems, which may not be precisely what is needed for the installation, Alison Control's systems are developed and engineered from the ground up, bringing together technology from a wide range of sources. The engineering takes place only after company experts have had the opportunity to meet with the customer, carefully review what needs to be protected and fully understand all factors related to the specific application
and location.

In engineering each system, Alison Control employs computer-aided design technology to assure accuracy and uniformity. This increases the speed of response without sacrificing precision.

Determining which types of sensing devices and response equipment to use can make or break a system. For example, one important objective in designing a system is to avoid having the extinguishing system discharge due to a false alarm. One of the solutions to this problem is to use different types of sensing devices and build "intelligent detection" such as "voting logic" into the control panel so that if one sensor indicates a fire in its vicinity, other sensors covering the area will be polled as to whether they also detect a fire. If they do not, an alarm will be registered but the extinguishing system, which can cause a costly cleanup when activated, will not be triggered.

The same carefully detailed, analytical approach is employed in the development of systems for nuclear power facilities, electric transformers, highway and utility tunnels, mines and the range of difficult-to-protect environments. All of the company's controls are Underwriter's Laboratory (UL) listed and Factory Mutual Research Corporation (FM) approved. They also have been approved by the California Fire Marshal, the New York City Department of Buildings and by multiple international authorities.
